A 20th Century silver desk standish,

Marked Charles and George Asprey

The rectangular dish with two shallow pen trays, two cut-glass silver-mounted inkwells and oval stamp box, raised on ball feet. Hallmarked London, 1923.

Aspreys, founded in 1781 by William Asprey is a well established luxury goods house initially focusing on silk printing and luxury home goods. By the 1860s they had moved to New Bond Street, London, selling dressing cases, travelling trunks and fine silver. In 1862 Queen Victoria gave the company their first Royal Warrant.


Condition.

Lovely condition overall, slight tarnish to front of stamp box, marks slightly rubbed on dish, otherwise lovely condition overall.
